DIY Floral Beach Cruiser

We first fell in love with this floral infused bicycle here and have since been dreaming of crafting a get away bike of our very own. The Little ThingsSweet Annie Floral Design and Ruth Eileen Photography came to the rescue with this simple DIY that will leave you doing high kicks and maybe a few jazz hands too.

Materials

Beach cruiser
Basket
Blank hanging sign
Squeeze paint
Flowers with thick, sturdy bases, such as roses, dahlias, carnations, zinnias
Floral clippers
Floral wire, clipped into 6” pieces
Zip ties

instructions

step-1  Start with an awesome beach cruiser- preferably one that you grabbed off of Craigslist and fixed up to suit your color palette (like we did)!

step-2 Use your squeeze paint to write something simple and sweet on your hanging sign, such as “hitched,” “Mr. and Mrs.,” or “forever.” Be sure to practice writing with the squeeze paint first!

step-3 While your sign is drying, place your basket on the bike and secure it with zip ties. Fill your bike basket with florals until it’s bursting at the seams, and use another zip tie (or floral wire) to hang your sign.

step-4 Take your flowers out of water and clip them so only the base of the flower remains. Thread the floral wire through the base of each flower.

step-5 Take your wired flowers and place them up against the wheel spokes, starting from the inside of the wheel and working outward. Wrap the wire together and around the spokes as needed so the flowers are affixed and will stay in place throughout the day.

step-6 Once complete, clip off any extra floral wire peeking through, and you’re finished and ready to ride off in the best beach cruiser ever!
