Romantic Valentine Engagement

"Not having an engagement shoot is one of our only regrets regarding our wedding. I was busy moving to where my then fiance lived, we were both busy planning the wedding, and it just didn’t feel like something we needed. I couldn’t have been more wrong!" If you don't want to have my regrets, is not to late to get ready for that Special Day.

So here it is a photo shoot from a real engagement party. They choose Valentine's as it has beautiful red sexy colors and lots of passion in it. But this can be done in any day of the year.

DIY Tears of Happiness Tissues Favors

We recently discovered an adorable line of scented tissues from Renova, a Portugese paper product company that just expanded their goods around the world. Mango Milkshake, Spearmint Gum and Fresh Lavender are just a few of the fun scents offered. Since we are WAY obsessed with just about anything lavender, we used the purple and white Fresh Lavender tissues for our Happy Tears project.

Tips on creating your own Wedding Dessert Table

Tips on creating your own Wedding Dessert Table:

– What table will you choose? Are you having a vintage style wedding – do you have an antique dresser or table that could be used? An exposed trestle table can actually look quite chic, otherwise find some lovely linen to dress your table.

– Adding flowers to your dessert table adds another dimension to your table. It is the one thing that is quite tricky to achieve on your own – so speak to your Florist to see if they can arrange something for you and that will of course match your wedding flowers.

– The beauty of a rustic themed is that you can easily add in props and crockery to try and create a uniformed look. Make sure you add in height, perhaps add in large vases with flowers in the middle or feature your wedding cake in the centre to add height and drama.

DIY Wedding: Sweet Celebrations – Candy Buffet Alternatives

I’ve seen all kinds of fun cakes and not-cakes at weddings but by far the biggest trend has been the candy buffet or dessert table. And it’s not hard to see why, since it’s more than just a dessert – it doubles up as decor, as a favour – even as entertainment. It creates a gorgeous focal point in one part of your reception, a striking visual reinforcement of your colours or theme. I love these tables, but what I love even more maybe are the ways that even this alternative has sprouted alternatives! When most people think of weddings they draw their attention to the cake. But if you don’t want a cake or if you want more than just cake, a sweet table is a great way to give your guests options and to show your mad baking skills.  Between the abundance of chocolate chunks, the melt in your mouth marshmallows, and the savory spiked eggnog, today’s how-to may be our most delicious and decadent post to date. And the timing really couldn’t be any better. Not only is this spread a surefire hit for any rustic or winter themed wedding, it also happens to have party perfection written all over it. We’re thinking, happy Valentine’s indeed. Here’s some ideas to inspire you to create your own scrumptious s’mores bar.

BLUE BELLE

Most of the dessert tables I’ve seen conform to a pink palette, but of course there’s no reason this has to be the case. This lil’ somethin’ blue combines the pretties treats, from pies to cakes to macarons and again, I love how vintage furniture is incorporated – pie in a drawer anyone?

POPS OF CORAL

Coral and Chalk made a gorgeous combo in our inspiration board (and one of your favourites) and the same palette makes for a gorgeous dessert station. I adore the sheer variety here, both in desserts and in containers, but also in heights – it would be super fun to dig into!

RUSTIC RED

I love rustic with a touch of red, and it’s never looked lovelier than on the table below. Of course, you don’t need a snowy backdrop (although it looks lovely, no?) – this table would be just as pretty on the inside, and works for summer as well as winter weddings.

GLITTERY GOLD

Gold and pink make a beautiful combination, and I especially love the punch of fuschia, Inspired4u Style. Once again, a little backdrop goes a long way with this table, but I also love how accessories like candles, flowers and especially a vintage desk have been used to style this simple dessert corner into a real feature.

NATURAL ORGANIC

Planning a natural, Rustic Organic wedding? No reason that you can’t have a pretty (if simple) dessert table too.

COMFORT CREATIONS

WHIMSICAL RUSTIC

Ah, this backdrop! It’s actually a super simple dessert table (although of course you could add whatever you like) but because of the gorgeous custom backdrop, it’s a huge feature for a rustic reception, and goes beautifully with our The New Rustic.

VINTAGE GREEN

Using a table is a must? I LOVE this cake-in-a-closet in cool mint shades.

MODERN BOHEMIAN

I love the rich vibrance and boho vibe of a deep color theme, and this table takes the cake. Or in this case, the macaron tower.

GORGEOUS BLUSH

The addition of a floral arch turns a beautiful feature into a spectacular one – perfect for all you garden wedding and blush-loving brides out there!

RUSTIC PEACH

Is there anything dreamier than this pretty peach riverside table? I adore everything about it – it manages to look homemade and super stylish all at once.

Wedding Trends - We Have to Look Forward to In 2016

Recent years have seen brides rush to recreate their version of a royal wedding or something straight off a Pinterest board. But as we greet 2016, it’s clear brides are much more interested in going down the aisle their own way. “Couples today want a wedding that showcases who they are, that's a fun experience for their guests and that won’t look or feel dated — ever.

If you’re getting married in 2016, your wedding planning is probably well under way. So many of the wedding trends that will pop up over the next 12 months are already in the works. Which means the vendors making them happen can tell us what to expect from 2016 weddings. Sometimes their trend prediction differ—Will weddings be bright? Or muted?—but we’re excited to see who’s right.

2016 Wedding Colors

This year, Pantone is predicting more vivid shades to be incorporated into wedding palettes. Rose Quartz, Peach Echo, Serenity, and Lilac Gray are just a few of the shades we think brides will be incorporating into their wedding day. Navy will be replaced by the brighter shade, Snorkel Blue. There are also brighter colors such as Fiesta that just say “ready to party!”

Wedding Dress Trends

Colorful Boho Trend – Airy outdoor look with bright colors interspersed throughout. Rustic  & soft details like harvest tables and dreamcatchers.  Lots of texture with pops of color. White features offset with bold florals and colorful accents.

Aerial Photography

With the invention of the new drone cameras, a lot of cutting-edge photographers are offering their unique shots taken from a birds-eye view. An aerial view of your ceremony, dancing, or your getaway are all great aerial shots. Be sure to visit with your photographer or videographer to see if they offer this as part of their package.

The Flowers

The right mix of style and simplicity will be the cornerstone of fabulous wedding floral arrangements in 2016.

Invitations, Signs and Decorations

A fondness for fonts. There’s such a strong cultural interest in words and graphics that it couldn’t help but spill over into the world of wedding invitations. Using multiple fonts on an all-type invitation adds fresh personality.

It’s Only Natural This year the rustic elegant is still up to date, wood, and natural airy country fresh will be big stars in more rustic and casual-chic celebrations while the vintage look will glam things up a bit.

The Cake

They look too pretty to eat, but that won’t stop us from slicing into these decadent flavors.

Metallics – As couples are leaning towards a more personal style and more towards what they already love in their own home, we’re seeing a trend towards using metallic’s in wedding colors. From stationary to jewelry to wedding cakes, metallic’s feel glamorous and chic.

Ultimately your wedding day is a chance to celebrate you and your love so go with the elements that get you excited and make your heart sing. Wishing all you 2016 and 2017 couples lots of love and luck with your planning. Enjoy it!
